Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, a new issue of "energy security" is thrusted in addition to the challenges the city has long confronted - "prevention of global warming" and "safety and security". On the other hand, "Low Carbon City promotion Act" was established in February 2012, promoting full-scale effort for energy planning in urban planning. Under such background, the role of a "distributed decentralized energy supply system" has become increasingly important in
urban areas. In this study, we examined a distributed independent energy supply system connected to the reliable middle-pressure gas pipeline in the surrounding area of "Ring Road 2" in downtown Tokyo where large-scale development is expected in the near future and analyzed effectiveness of the system for primary energy saving and CO, reduction.
