Abstract

In response to the common problems of "medical-nursing needs being difficult to meet and coordinate in facility spaces" in the design of community residential facilities for the elderly, this study breaks through the limitations of traditional type-based design thinking and tries to lead the theory of scenes in the field of sociology into the field of architectural space design. Firstly, the theory of scenes has been reviewed from three aspects: connotation, research progress, and localized experience. Then, starting from the problems existing in the current design of community residential facilities for the elderly, the necessity of leading the theory of scenes into the field of architectural space design was elaborated. Finally, the feasibility of leading the theory of scenes into the field of architectural space design was analyzed from two aspects: basic elements and logical thinking. Using the holistic perspective of "scenes" to guide the design, organization, and coordination of architectural spaces can achieve the goals of clarifying the medical-nursing functions of spaces and enhancing the connections between spaces. It is expected that this study could provide a new theoretical paradigm for the design of community residential facilities for the elderly.
