Abstract

Needs for oceanspaceis on the rise due to increasing in national income and environmental issues like global warming in Korea surrounded by the sea on three sides. According as the demand increases, interests in floating architecture on the sea arealso increasing. There aremany kinds of renewable energies around the floating architecture such as the sea water heat, solar, solar heat and wind power energy. But, there is a lack of study on the SeaWater Heat Exchanger(SWHEx) for using the sea water as heat energy around floating buildings. This study proposes the SWHEx for floating architectures, which can be used as heat source or heat sink of heat pump. This study has developed the model of the SWHEx and evaluated its performance through some simulations. Finally, the performance of the SWHEx has been evaluated by using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) results.
