Abstract

Recently, urban new facilities become to be considered energy saving significantly. However, it is also necessary to focus on existing facilities due to further reduction of consumer use energy consumption. Especially, reduction of energy consumption of air conditioning is important. Nevertheless, decrepit machines are not renewed at appropriate time in many common facilities because of limitation of budget.
In this paper, we examined energy saving effects through partial renovation of a heat source system utilizing existing machines in an actual complex facility which includes an exhibition hall and a hotel with total area of 19624 m2. By that means, we aimed to obtain basic data which is needed for future energy saving of existing facilities. First, we investigated heating and cooling loads and energy consumption of the facility. Second, we simulated annual energy consumption in some cases of heat source system renovation. The result shows that energy saving of 28 % can be achieved when 20 % of the heat source capacity is replaced with module type heat pump chiller units and water piping system is combined for sharing cold/hot water. The case also achieve 27 % reduction of CO2 emissions.
