Hangzhou, as the capital of Zhejiang province, is located in China’s Hot Summer and Cold Winter (HSCW)
climate zone. People's living standard is conflict with the poor indoor thermal environment. Local residents form
unique heating and living habits in order to achieve a satisfactory indoor thermal environment in winter.
Households in Hangzhou, as experimental objects, were asked to complete questionnaires which included local
household information such as building age, family income and air conditioner quantity. People's thermal
perception, clothing level, window opening behavior, air conditioner and heating using habits were recorded.
Based on the questionnaires results, the monthly and hourly probability using air conditioners is calculated. The
main factors that leading to open the window have clarified. The temperature range taking off winter clothing
has found out. Combined with indoor air temperature and relative humidity, PMV and APMV are calculated. The
data can be used in the simulation of building energy consumption in this area, which can be referenced to
develop a detailed standard of energy conservation.
