In recent years, energy-saving and low-carbonization of cities are necessary. The use of DHC (district heating and cooling) makes heat source equipment efficient, but it is thought that efficiency of heat source equipment which works for a long time is fallen. Therefore, it is necessary to renew the equipment or transfer heat between some DHCs for making an existing DHC more efficient. In this study, it was simulated to make DHC network between Nishi-Shinjuku 1-chome area and Shinjuku Shin-toshin area that will start to transfer chilled water between them from 2013, and it was investigated how much transferring chilled water creates the energy-saving effect, and how much the difference in the operating method of heat source equipment changes the energy-saving effect, etc. As the result, it was found that the energy-saving effect can be expected by making DHC network in all cases of simulation. Moreover in a case, up to 7.7 % primary energy per year was reduced.
