Abstract

It is commonly believed that green spaces have the cooling effect and reduce the temperature inside and outside of the green space. However, there are many researches about the cooling effect of large-sized green space, there are few research about the small and medium-sized green space. To find out the cooling effect of the small and medium-sized green space we first tried to fix the method of the survey in the outdoor. By pursuing the surveys in different methods we finally fixed the method to survey by making the reference point and exanimate the cooling effect that the green space has. Secondly by using the fixed method we did a survey in the small and medium-sized green space in summer. The survey results that inside the small and medium-sized green space, the temperature decreased about 0.8 degrees compared to the reference point. Also depending on the wind direction, the temperature of the surrounding areas of the green space is reduced compared to the reference point. These results demonstrate that the small and medium-sized green space has the potential of reducing the surrounding areas temperature like the large-sized green space.
