The influence of alkali content on compressive strength of biomass fly ash (BFA) based geopolymer has been investigated. These include 2 key factors, alkali dosage (M+) and alkali modulus (AM). Alkali dosage (M+) is determined as the mass ratio of total sodium oxide (Na2O) in the activating solution to the binder. The alkali modulus (AM) is determined as the mass ratio of sodium oxide to silica in the activating solution. It was found that the changes in M+ has greater effects on the compressive strength of BFA geopolymer. The AM had less effects on compressive strength. However, bigger AM values required higher M+ value to active BFA particles. The optimal M+ was 11.5% and 9.5% for 100%BFA an 40%GGBS samples, respectively, where AM was 0.75.Downloads
