The amount of development in urban areas without considering the availability of land makes the existence of green open space to be minimum, the temperature of the building and the temperature around it also increases. This phenomenon is called the heat island effect. This has become an urban problem in the world. Buildings are required to be able to withstand high radiation for the convenience of its users. Extensive green roof is one of the media that can reduce the exterior and interior temperature of the building.
The comparative research method is used by the author by comparing the results of research from experts. Several major cities in Indonesia, India, and Hong Kong have carried out concrete simulations and applications that can reduce heat to buildings. As a result, around 4。c the temperature outside the building can be reduced by using green roof. besides that green roof can be a way of saving energy consumption and sustainable.
