Low-rise buildings and high density are the remarkable characteristics of the old city district insufficient physical space, green land, activity space and the low quality of living environment is a widespread problem in the old city district. During the days of innovating the old city and rebuilding Shanty towns, researching and exploring the Low-carbon design strategy and method has become an important issue. In this paper, set a Xi’an shanty town renovation as an example, using the sustainable design method such as Low-carbon design, control building density and environment protection to analyze and summarize the connection between the Low-Carbon design, residents living surroundings and architecture density. Through the analysis of the regional micro-climate environment and thermal environment, we put forward Low-carbon architecture design strategy and method, providing reference for scientific method of the old city renovation.
