jailcd2015009: Influence of PCM Applied to Building Envelop on Heating and Cooling Load

Based on the advantage of energy storage and thermoregulation when phase changing, phase change material (PCM) applied to building envelope can improve the thermal insulation performance and reduce the indoor heating and cooling load effectively. Under the typical climatic characteristics of Chengdu (located in hot summer and cold winter region) and Barkam (located in cold region) in China, PCM is applied to ordinary retaining structure and light retaining structure respectively in order to research the influence of building energy saving numerically by Energyplus software. The results show that indoor heating and cooling load can decrease with PCM in building envelope. And when PCM applied to light retaining structure in cold region, the contribution to building energy efficiency is more effective.
