China is shifting from high-speed development to high-quality development, and from incremental to stock-based development. Inspired by the "Japanese Urban Regeneration" in Sakura Program, this paper briefly discusses the regeneration of the external environment of the old communities in northern cities in the new era, and makes a statistical analysis of the living environment, humanistic environment and residents' intentions of renovation around the old communities, and summarizes them. Realities and reasons for impact. Based on this, the regeneration strategy of the external environment of old residential areas in northern cities in the new era is to improve the stock of the external environment from three aspects: living environment, cultural environment, and policy support.
